– GAUTAM BUDDDHA
-
BORN
IN 567 B.C IN ‘LUMBINI’ NEAR “KAPILVASTU” IN THE FOOTHILS OF NEPAL.
-
HIS
FATHER SUDDHODANA WAS WAS THE SAKA RULER.
-
MAHAMAYA,
HIS MOTHER, DIED AFTER THE 7 DAYS OF HIS BIRTH AND WAS THEN BROUGHT UP BY
STEPMOTHER GAUTAMI.
-
HE
WAS MARRIED TO A PRINCESS NAMED YASHODARA AND HAD A SON NAMED RAHUL.
-
WHEN
HE WAS A YOUNG MAN & ROAMED OUTSIDE HIS PALACE, THE SIGHT OF AN OLD MAN, A
SICK MAN & A DEAD PERSON HAD A DEEP IMPACT ON HIM AND COMPLETELY CHANGED
HIS LIFE.
-
IT
MADE HIM VERY DISTURBED AND SAD.
-
HE
THOUGHT IF ONLY SOMETHING COULD BE DONE TO STOP PEOPLE FROM GROWING OLD,
FALLING SICK & DYING, EVERYONE WOULD BE HAPPY.
-
HE
THEN SAW A CALM LOOKING HERMIT WHO WAS UNAFFECTED BY THE SUFFERING & MISERY
AROUND HIM.
-
LEFT
HIS PALACE AT 29 (WITH CHANNA, THE CHARIOTEER & HIS FAVOURITE HORSE, KANTHAKA) IN SEARCH OF TRUTH
& WANDERED FOR 6 YEARS.
-
-
FOR
6 YEARS, HE TORTURED HIMSELF. THEN HE FELT THAT HIS FASTS AND PENANCE HAD BEEN
USELESS.
-
HE
ABONDENED THESE THINGS AND SO THE FIVE DISCIPLES LEFT HIM.
(
KONDANA, VAPPA, BHADIYA, MAHANAMA & ASSAGI)
-
HE
ATTAINED ‘NIRVANA’ AT THE AGE OF 35 AT GAYA IN BIHAR (UNDER THE PIPAL TREE,
MAHABODHI TEMPLE IS AT THAT PLACE).
-
HE
WENT TO SARNATH, NEAR VARANASi, WHERE HE DELIVERED HIS FIRST SERMON IN THE DEER
